Gee, I must have hit a nerve by suggesting that the idea held by several of the rafters and kayackers amoung us and pushed by their political organizations that they have more rights to water than anyone else is elitist. BTW, I didn't see any refutation of my statement on recreation within YOUR invective. What is your obvious love >affair with the Aubern dam in particular. You are tring to sell it as a >flood control dam but virtually everone else recognizes it for what it >really is, a big pork barrel project for Rep. John Dolittle and his >deviloper friends. This is underwood's invective-ridden reaction to a different post. Anyway, here goes... The Corps of Engineers had proposed the funding of a flood control only project for the recently defeated incarnation of Auburn Dam. I guess Underwood doesn't trust them to follow the law, which would have funded a flood control only project and nothing else. >you could use the same >argument regarding the Pacific Crest Trail as it is only used by a few >"elitist backpackers' and therefore we should pave it so that millions >of motorcyclists could use it also. > I really did hit a nerve.
