Please prove me the difference between : airship and gyroplane. At least in Canada, there is no license for : airships but there is for gyroplane. I believe it's the same for US as : well. A gyroplane is an aircraft where forward velocity is used to maintain lift. It has a freespinning rotor that is the main source of lift. The forward propulsive force is provided by another rotor, the propeller of the engine. A gyroplane cannot hover, unlike a helicopter. Gyroplane/Gyrocopter/AutoGyro A gyrocopter has no fixed wings, whilst a gyroplane has small stub wings that provide extra lift. An autogyro has enough lift in its fixed wings to be able to fly (not very well) without the autorotating rotor. Many of these contraptions can also spin up the top rotor while on the ground to give a vertical takeoff. The engine in and of itself is not powerful enough to generate a vertical takeoff, but for intertial storage in the top rotor while it has zero angle of attack. An airship is a blimp or a dirigidable (or a propelled hot air balloon) :>: once I get it, this makes me the youngest gyroplane operator in Canada :>: since I see there is no licensee under the age of 20 (and if there is :>: no licensee in the world, i will be the youngest in the world !). :>So, there's no licensee, that doesn't mean you're the youngest operator. : why ? because someone operates it illegally, Dr. ?? Yes, also, as you should know, if someone isn't PIC, then a license is not required, thus dual flight with an unlicensed pilot operating the aircraft is possible. (And that's how 8 year olds can make crosscountry flights in planes under their "control")
