Because, essentially, to get anywhere in this world, you need to have a
degree. Large companies require that you have a degree, period. If you
want to start your own company, then you still need some education (college,
university, or whatever).

I went to University because I wanted to. I now have $24,000 in student
debt, and I now have a fairly good paying job. Not everyone gets a good
paying job when they come out of university (in my case I have a Bachelor of
Computer Science - something I have wanted for years).

For some people it's the love of education, why they stay in 10+ years to
get a Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate...

While I think students should have to pay less, I do believe we need to be
responsible for a portion of our university education. HOWEVER, it is
REALLY disturbing that what I paid in first year versus what I payed in my
final year went up by $1000 or more.

In terms of student loans, the government is not doing their part in A)
making student loans accessible to people who cannot depend on their
parents, and B) making sure students can afford to make payments. I'm
currently paying $350/month in payments. If I had a lower paying job, I
would not be able to pay off my student debt, and other debts that I
accumulated as a student (VISA, etc).

Also, don't forget that students are the future of the country, and of the
world. Without education, we'd be in the dumps.
