A few points:

Small businesses have a high rate of failure, is it better to be $24000 
in debt from a failed business, or be $24000 in debt with a good 
education?  It depends on the person, clearly you're an entrepreneurial 
type of guy and keen on setting up your own business, others aren't 
interested in running a business.  

If it was really easy to spend a few thousand to set up a business and 
recoup the money quickly, everyone would do it.  The truth is, starting 
up a small business is a lot of work, and not everyone has the right 
skills and abilities to handle it.

For the umpteenth time you do not own the patent on the correct way to 
live.  There are many things you can learn through a university education 
which you just can't do on your own.  For Canada to be a prosperous 
nation, we need some bright, well-educated individuals.  Do you really 
want to go to a doctor who learned everything from a textbook?
