Even worse, as you say, it is embarrassing.  The President's behaviour is
not, and has not been, acceptable. The Board has refused to rein him in.
Whether out of timidity or genuine ignorance about how these matters are
supposed to be conducted, I don't know.

It's not that I've never seen anything like it -- I've just never seen
anything like it as a public display in a professional association.
Old-fashioned feuding and brawling, no holds barred.  Thank God Steve
Gallinger knows how to behave himself, or who knows what it would be like.

fairness or civility.  I've been waiting for them to quietly correct the
process behind the scenes, with the usual face-saving negotiations and
announcements and the quiet disappearance of the President from Society
activities.  So far, nothing.
