The environment: ESIX Rev 4.0.4, though this particular box will probably
be upgrading to UnixWare.

It's been working fine recently with my 60MB tape drive, consisting of
an Everex EV-811 controller and a Kennedy 6500 tape drive.

Couple of weeks ago things start getting wacko. One or two times after
bootup the tape responds to commands, then it freezes with the tape
light steady on.

I've switched drives (the other is a Wangtek 5125) with no improvement.
I've switches tape controllers, but the Archive 402 I tried was no help
at all (it expects only Archive tape drives).

Could the symptoms above point to the cable? Or is there a source
somewhere (preferably in the Toronto area but I'll do mail order)
where I can get a replacement Everex/Wangtek controller, which will
work with either of these drives? Everex has gone under, is anyone
still making controllers for these things anymore?
