I've done that many times in the past few years.  I go shopping to NYC
every now and then and rather then drive, I've taken amtrak.  I would
expect that if your car is on the more likely to be stolen list, you
take a greater risk.  First thing you will want to do is make sure there
is nothing visible through the window worth stealing.
