The discussed topic about irc.span.ch and other irc-servers makes me ask:

How can I find out how close or how far a server (irc servers, URLs, etc) 
is? This would be useful in situations where you have to choose a server 
among other (IRC, FTP-Download). Until now I assumed that Swiss Servers 
are closest, European not bad and US Servers terribly far away (means 
slow for me)

Are there tools that show me the routing (Config: PC with WfW 3.11, 
Netscape etc)

Any help would be appreciated
