I called AT&T to see if I owe money as for some reason I don't get bills 
anymore.

My dry "elite" DSL went from $45 to $48, for 6Mb.

WTF.

so, I check if I can get uverse stuff for faster internet, at the same 
scam ripoff prices. I can see one of those boxes outside my window.

I can, so I order the 12Mb service which is supposed to be $50 something 
per month or $35ish per month for 1 year if I commit to 1 year.

fine.


There's some mandatory modem you need to get for $100. It's total 
bullshit, but they don't seem to be items you replace all that often.

I opt for self install. I can operate a wire and an outlet all by myself 
and not lose $300 of work and pay $149 to be stood up by some install 
tech.

They even claim a due date of 4-13, whatever that really means:

Processing  We received your order and it's scheduled to 
complete on the date displayed. 04/09/2012 04/13/2012 

Feel free to place your bets on how this order gets all jacked up. My 
mailing address is different from my service address, but I clearly select 
the mailing address as the place to ship the scam modem to.
