Preamble
--------
The Clout Project of /usr/group/chicago provides email services to
the Chicago computer community. It is currently a two node system.
One (nclout aka clout.chi.il.us) resides at the University of Chicago,
Department of Computer Science. The other (homebru) is in the home of
Dave Ihnat. Eventually we hope to have a clout node as a nearby phone
call for everybody in the Chicago area.
The Clout System Administrators' Committee is responsible for
maintaining and upgrading the Clout distributed computer system.
The Committee meets in the first week of every month, at a
variety of locations. Meetings are open to all interested parties,
but we do request that you notify the host if you plan to attend.
If you have any questions or problems related to the Clout Project,
send email to postmaster@clout.chi.il.us. If it is not possible
to send email, or if there is a matter of urgency, you may contact
the Sysadmin of the Month.
Minutes of the March 2, 1993 meeting of the Clout Project System
Administrators held at the home of Doug Blair in Naperville.
ATTENDANCE
----------
Doug Blair <blair@obdient.chi.il.us>
Gerry Swetsky <lisbon@vpnet.chi.il.us>
Russell Rezaian <rrezaian@austral.chi.il.us>
Brain Vargyas <brianv@amiserv.chi.il.us>
Don Leaman <donl@shiptile.chi.il.us>
Gregory Gulik <greg@serveme.chi.il.us>
Mike Beirne <beirne@limerick.chi.il.us>
* Posting of Clout Minutes
Clout minutes will now be mailed to sysadmin@clout.chi.il.us in
addition to being posted to chi.mail.
* New Clout Machine
Clout may possibly be replaced with a Sun-3/60. The new machine
will be a loan by an area company.
* Gateway Posting Service
There was a proposal for setting up a mail to news gateway. Mes-
sages sent to an alias would automatically get posted to chi.mail.
Shannon will research this.
* NIS
NIS is running, albeit crippled. There was discussion about get-
ting rid of it. Mike and Russell will continue to work on this.
* User Account Reduction
Continuing discussion. No hurry.
* Security Discussion
The /bin/login file appeared suspicious and was replaced from the
original tapes. No other problems were found.
* Telebit Phone Numbers
We need to get the Telebit numbers out to more callers. Doug will
see who needs the number and divide up the list among the Admins
to call and notify of the change. Additionally, Russell will get
our T2500 attached to clout to offload more people from the term-
inal server at the University of Chicago.
* Ddsw1 Mail
It is is still going through homebru. This will be corrected.
Next Meeting:
Tuesday, April 6, 1993. Greg Gulik will host.
Postmaster of the month:
Doug Blair
