The clout project provides email service in the .chi.il.us domain
for many sites in the Chicago area. Some sites listed above forward
mail and files to other clout sites. For more information about
clout or to report problems send email to postmaster@clout.chi.il.us.

Unusual conditions noted by Postmaster Of The Month or clout system
administrators for this week:

Clout was off line for slightly less than two days over the Columbus Day
holiday weekend. During this period mail from outside the chi.il.us domain
spooled on other servers and mail from inside the domain spooled on the
origin machine, and some bounce messages may have been generated. This
condition led to discovery of some outdated MX records on other machines,
which are being updated. Recovery from the outage was delayed by restricted
site access over the holiday.

The Gentle Reader is referred to previous postings from Russell Rezaian,
current clout Postmaster Of The Month, for more detailed explanation of
these events.

Additional note: the university is in the process of reconfiguring local
ethernet connections and it is possible that the clout machine may be
inaccessable for intervals of a few minutes occasionally over the coming
week. Should this happen as an internet site requests a .chi.il.us domain
address the request will be handled by our secondary MX recordholder. Normal.
Life is Good.

I think that about sums it up.
