I don't believe the recent problems have been due to any equipment
other than clout itself (or the ethernet segment clout is connected
to).  I access clout by using SLIP to my workplace, then
UUCP-over-TCP.  I have had UUCP sessions time out and intermittent
ping failures.  I've also telnetted to clout and gotten a connection
but no login prompt.  The problem is not on the modem pool or the
gandalf, I'm sure.
