PREAMBLE
The Clout Project of /usr/group/chicago provides email services to
the Chicago computer community. It is currently a two node system.
One (nclout aka clout.chi.il.us) resides at the University of Chicago,
Department of Computer Science. The other (homebru) is in the home of
Dave Ihnat. Eventually we hope to have a clout node as a nearby phone
call for everybody in the Chicago area.

The Clout System Administrators' Committee is responsible for
maintaining and upgrading the Clout distributed computer system.
The Committee meets on the first Monday of every month, at a
variety of locations. Meetings are open to all interested parties,
but we do request that you notify the host if you plan to attend.

If you have any questions or problems related to the Clout Project,
send email to postmaster@clout.chi.il.us. If it is not possible
to send email, or if there is a matter of urgency, you may contact
    the Sysadmin of the Month.

Minutes of the Clout Project System Administrators Committee June meet-
ing 7:30PM at the home of Greg Gulik.

ATTENDANCE

La Monte Yarroll, chair
Greg Gulik
Doug Blair
Gerry Swetsky
Russell Rezaian
Brian Vargyas
Mike Bierne
Chris Ray

TOPICS:

*New dedicated clout site
Location of the next dedicated clout site was discussed.
Although a Chicago site was mentioned, the possibility of a
west suburban location was brought up as an alternative.

*Individual site change
Greg will mark site kashruth DEAD in clout's maps.

*Individual site change
Russell will move tellab5 to nclout.

*New drive missing cable
Mike Beirne will give La Monte a cable for our new drive. Note
that this drive is for software development and NOT spool space.

*Site connect problem
A site was complaining about the inability to connect with
clout's high speed modems. Greg will suggest they try higher
numbers on clout's modem pool to see if he could get his Prac-
	tical Peripherals modem working reliably.

*Possible bogus site
La Monte will send a "diplomatic" note to a foreign site ex-
	plaining the issues involved.

*Form letter needed
Mike will write a generic form letter that the postmaster of
the month can mail to potential new clout clients.

*Setting up shico.com
The domain setup was checked by La Monte, and looked OK ex-
cept for a few points. The changes will be made by Greg and
the Clout Admin Notes will be modified to reflect the correct
	way to set it up.

*Telebit dialout
La Monte will add a field to clout's clients/others database
to support dialing out on our Telebit.

*Voice mail
Chris will set up a voice mail account for admin use.

*Postmaster rules
Always acknowledge every mail message, if merely to say you're
busy and will get to it later. Be sure to cc: the acting post-
master if the reply is a real response.
