PREAMBLE
The Clout Project of /usr/group/chicago provides email services to
the Chicago computer community. It is currently a two node system.
One (nclout aka clout.chi.il.us) resides at the University of Chicago,
Department of Computer Science. The other (homebru) is in the home of
Dave Ihnat. Eventually we hope to have a clout node as a nearby phone
call for everybody in the Chicago area.
The Clout System Administrators' Committee is responsible for
maintaining and upgrading the Clout distributed computer system.
The Committee meets on the first Monday of every month, at a
variety of locations. Meetings are open to all interested parties,
but we do request that you notify the host if you plan to attend.
If you have any questions or problems related to the Clout Project,
send email to postmaster@clout.chi.il.us. If it is not possible
to send email, or if there is a matter of urgency, you may contact
the Sysadmin of the Month.
Minutes of the Clout Project System Administrators Committee July
meeting at the home of Gerry Swetsky. Monday July 6th, 1900 hours.

TOPICS
*Lots of files remain in input directory
Mostly sites clout can't reach for various reasons, but the
mail should be bouncing instead of sitting there. La Monte
will post a question regarding this.
*Smail list connection
La Monte will change his smail list connection to a location on clout.
*Reaching Matt Crawford
No acknowledgement for last few sites set up as .chi.il.us from
Matt. Russell will try other addresses.
*Request for TCP/IP Uucp connection
Mike Beirne will set this up.
*Clout's new disk drive
Drive won't format. Suggestion was made to remove the
terminators from the shoebox. Check /etc/format.dat.
*Clout Administration Notes
Add to postmaster duties, for instance cc: addresses. Several
other suggestions were made.

hours.
September's meeting will be at Doug Blair's in Naperville on
the 7th.
*Agenda for the August meeting
Does tellab5 talk directly to both clout nodes? If so we
should note this in the database so that mail for tellab5 does
not all get passed to homebru.
The Internal Relations Committee has asked us for two items:
A brief description of the Clout Project and an introductory
document for getting set up with the Clout Project.
The Computer Science Department at the U of C will be moving
both nclout and machine at the end of September. They will get
new phone numbers at that time. The room they are in now is
being taken over by the Instructional Labs.
AFTERWORD
The Clout Project would like to thank the following organizations for their
help, loans and donations:
The University of Chicago, Dept. of Computer Science
(CPU system, machine room space, phone lines,
an Internet drop, and much general support)
Tellabs (CPU, High speed modem)
Kells Inovations Inc. (Disk drive)
BALR Inc. (High speed modem)
La Monte Yarroll (munchies)
