servas! we have the following problem on our system: a virus (parity B) infected our winnt4-system. so we partitionated and formatted the harddisk 1. due to unreasonable things the harddisk 2 became UNPARTITIONATED (we didn't change anything with this disk except hanging it form primary slave on secondary master bus). so we created a new partition with the diskmanager. now the disk ist unformatted and can't be accessed from the filemanager (unknown filesystem). chkdsk says: the filesystem is RAW. is there any possibility to UNFORMAT the disk, so that the files can be accessed? the last backup has been made over one month ago and some files are needed! any suggestions?? ciao H.

If nothing else helps, ask ONTRACK. They are specialists for recovery. But it's EXPENSIVE. Good luck for finding a better solution! best regards Jochen Hilkert Heinz A. Hello Heinz, You say the disk is HPFS file system. Is this a mistake and is the disk NTFS formatted? Norton Utilities won't help you recover from this. Try a Data Recovery service such as DriveSavers or OnTrack. Thanks for writing, Caroline E Evridge Symantec Product Support Heinz A.
