We have recently been getting reports in our log files about outgoing messages. The messages are not originating from our site and there are loads them! It seems that anyone can connect to our SMTP port and send messages to who they like. There must be a setting in MS Exchange to stop people, outside of our site, from using our server to send email. Can anyone tell me how to do it? MS Exchange is a jungle as far as tabbed dialog boxes go and Help is rubbish. Any help would be highly appreciated Thanks Brett Graham REMOVE-O-SPAMbgraham@byline.co.uk P.S. If emailing, remember to remove the REMOVE-O-SPAM bit, you'll be surprised how many people don't.

In 5.5 you can tell IMS which IP-net(s) to accept outgoing messages from (your net). \\Terje

If you are not using POP3 or IMAP4 (with Exchange Server 5.5) clients, Go to the Internet Mail Service Object in the Exchange Administrator and select properties and then the Routing Tab. Turn off SMTP rerouting. Additional functionality was added with Exchange Server 5.5. You can read the readme file for detailed information on how to configure the UCE feature if you have that product. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wesley.Peace@ncons.com Microsoft BackOffice/Exchange MVP He who has a why can endure any how. -Friedrich Nietzsche Brett Graham wrote in message <6desa8$8t7$1@flex.news.pipex.net>... >We have recently been getting reports in our log files about outgoing >messages. In the firewal restictions of your router, you can deny all packets trying to access any port, not orriginating off your local subnets. -- John Knappers email: john.knappers@nospam.cyberjunky.demon.nl (remove "nospam" before replying).
