While I am the first person to admit that our tax system is in dire need of 
restructuring, the National Sales Tax is not the answer.  

Why?  
(1) I have two words: BLACK MARKET.  A 15% sales tax will create a huge black market for 
goods that can be purchased without the 15% surcharge. You think the IRS is bad now.  
Imagine what happens when the IRS becomes the Black Market Stasi
(2) A national sales tax (aka consumption tax)will hurt the poor, who consume far more 
of their income than the rich.  While there are some who say that you can deduct 
"neccessary goods" like food, that would just neccessitate the increase of the rate.

I don't have the answer to our tax problems.  If there were an easy way to simplify our 
tax system, it would have already been implemented.
