Your specific location is probably one of : those where ISDN just isn't a priority for Ameritech. IMHO, Ameritech has : its head pretty far up its rectum when it comes to ISDN. Those of you who : know Jamie up here at Multiverse, he recently moved and wanted ISDN installed : in his new residence. It took them almost *two months* to get the order : straightened out, before the line was activated. The wiring was done early : on, the line was not active though... : Then again, I've had some Ameritech nightmares lately, so maybe I'm just : a litte jaded :-) : ISDN from Ameritech is like a $140 install, and $40-$45 or so monthly. If : you're residential, that's it. If you're in a commercial district, yes, it : is about a nickel a minute while you're dialed out. But like I said, if you : get a residential line, you don't have to pay that per-minute charge. : That doesn't include the charge from the ISP so that something on the other : side of your ISDN will answer and connect you to the net, either. : Anyway, time to take the birthday girl out for the evening... : see everyone around. : -d. One of the problems with ISDN is that often Ameritech has to wait for a speical line-card to come in, on order, and the line cards can cost anywhere from $400 to $800, depending on the type of end office. The installation, and monthly charges eventually pay for the line card, although most subscribers arent aware of this. Frankly, I dont understand how a simple line card could cost so much damn money, but that is the vendors problem not mine (until, that is, I subscribe to ISDN).. Telephone rates are friggin ridiculous anyway.. Screw Ameritech.. -- =-------------------------------------------------------------------------= "You talking to me?..
