And, I've pretty well outlined my view: I was ignored as a potential
customer, then I was billed without receiving any service. I was
ignored when I complained about the billing. IMO, I did not have an
enjoyable experience.

If it were a gas station, I would not go there to fill-up, and I would
tell others about my bad experience. If they sent me bogus auto repair
bills, I would complain to the BBB.

IMO, I got a raw deal. IMO, based only on the one-sided evidence that
was presented to me, the person I was responding to got a raw deal as
well. If enough people getting a raw deal complain, then maybe
something will be done.

  We've had a couple people

And, I originally went to EN based upon a recommendation from one of the
few people in Cleveland I knew had an ISP account at the time. It's not
that everyone will agree with me, otherwise they would not be in business
at all. I don't know what kind of service they receive, I only know
what I got.

Good for you and good for them. However, I have a tough time being
sympathetic to anyone who sends me a bill every month for services
I was not even approached about until 6 weeks after getting an account
with someone else, which I declined immediately and still got billed for
every month. It wasn't even until I started being a loud asshole
that they stopped sending me bills. Not that I'm not any good at being
an asshole, but the it should not have to had to come to that. My frank
opinion is that they do not have their act together -- at all.

Now, I'm reading posts by others complaining of lack of service. A
small few, maybe, but enough to make me wonder about their overall
quality of service. I don't see that many complaints about the other
ISP's in the area. Is it because they are bigger than everyone else, so
it is natural for there to be more complaints? I don't really know, but
if they are, then maybe they have gotten too big to handle it. A
business can suffer from too much growth just as much as too little.

I'll say this, though, that if you are conscientious enough to stick up
for the competition, maybe your service can avoid mistakes like these by
being just as conscientious towards customers and potential customers.
I don't know you and have never been on Multiverse (that I remember),
but it sounds like you at least have the potential of avoiding the, what
should be obvious, mistake of ignoring a user.

So far, I'm fine where I'm at. I'm being treated well, and the
technical expertise is above what I'm used to. That's about all I care
to say, because I don't want this to degenerate into a "mine is better
than yours" flame war. I'm not the original poster, and I'm not looking
for another ISP. I just find it interesting that the one looking for an
ISP has had difficulty with the same one that has given me so much
heart-burn.
