I admit it: I did not feel it was worthwhile to archive for all posterity the post where you told someone: "Don't bother complaining to tech support [about the news server]. They'll just blame the problem on you." If I knew you'd deny having said it to your dying day, I would have clipped and saved it. And I *did* admit there were problems on the newsgroups ... I just didn't think you should be lying about what tech support says. You seem to think that made me a cheerleader; I see that as having ethical standards. And once or twice I *did* get on peoples' cases for moaning about utterly trivial issues. Which is fine, because I was also willing to back people when there WERE problems I felt were significant. And it's my right to voice my opinions ... though it was never your right to lie about the staff, however. > >He likewise had a > > problem with tech support staff that weren't psychic enough to predict > > the future, and honestly admitted that they didn't know exactly when the > > system would be back up again after a fix. > > If you called and asked if the system was down you got multiple responses. You complained, point blank, when mikem said he wasn't a psychic because he couldn't tell you exactly when the system would be up. I didn't bother to clip and save that post either, but we both know it's true. In any event, you even found yourself complaining when tech support gave you the least bullshitty of answers: "We don't know". And still you found that sort of evasiveness to be a problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Don't ever change -- we need an absolute zero on the clue scale." -- Dr. Dynasoar Iridium
