Yes it was inflammatory. I apologize but their service has been horrible for
so many years that I'm just getting fed up. I've complained to Solon City
Hall but they do nothing.

That would explain why it wasn't listed in the menu perhaps but every 30
seconds a message was appearing telling you to press PPV to select G.I.
Jane. Unfortunately, as I mentioned, that simply took you to a screen
listing PPV events of which G.I. Jane was NOT listed!

They don't know the difference between software and hardware so it's
unlikely the phone reps will be able to convey the problem in any meaningful
manner.

Well COX and several others are already offering 10MB cable modems while the
Cablevision customers struggle to get their channels correct.

Let me give another example of a typical Cablevision interaction:

About 4-5 weeks ago, I was contacted by a Cablevision sales rep who gave me
the "big pitch" about all the wonderful things the new Optimum service and
new cable boxes would give me. I "bought" into the sales pitch (though I
should know better based on past experience). They started the Optimum
programming immediately and scheduled an appointment to have the new boxes
installed. About a week before getting the new boxes, suddenly the cable
programming stopped working on one of our two boxes. I called Cablevision
and they said they could fix the problem but if they did, I would lose my
appointment to get the new boxes since the software would automatically
reallocate my appointment if they "go-in" to reset my cable box code. I told
them that that was ridiculous and asked them why my box wasn't working in
the first place. They lamely told me that the only reason it seemed to be
working previously was that I was getting the preview versions of Optimum
programming and that once it ended I lost my programming. I told them that
that made no sense at all and that at minimum, the box should have
"fallen-back" to the previous programming. Additionally, my other cable box
was receiving the same Optimum programming it had been getting for over a
week. I asked how one box could be working and the other not working but
they didn't have an answer.

Unfortunately, this type of dialog is all too common when dealing with the
Cablevision phone support staff. They are under-staffed and under-trained.

On yet another occasion, I had called to change my programming. What
resulted was that one of the two cable boxes had the new programming and the
other had the old programming. (Keep in mind that both cable boxes were the
same model # and very close in serial #) I called them and was told that I
needed a hardware service upgrade. I told them that that made no sense and
that it was simply a programming error on their part but they could not get
it straightened out on their end. They sent a guy out to do some kind of
hardware upgrade. He showed up and then admitted that he didn't have the
equipment with him so he left without doing anything. Eventually, they came
and performed some sort of upgrade. The end result was that the programming
was still incorrect on one box relative to the other. Eventually, I gave up
and went back to the previous programming which they miraculously managed to
get right.

Believe me, I'm not alone with these feelings. Many of my neighbors have
similar stories regarding Cablevision and would gladly switch to another
service if one were available.
