I am wondering if there are any people who would be interested in helping out a young college student. I am not rich or poor. My parents pay for school with the money they have saved for a long time. I would like to get a Jeep. They think that they are not good vehilces to get and don't want anything to do with helping me get one. That is why I am asking you. I have a job working on campus. It's not the best paying job but I have some income. It pays for the smaller bills and what not. I am asking that people maybe give up something for one day, and donate it to my dream of getting a Jeep. I know I need self discipline and so forth but I am am saving on my own and will probably be able to get one in 4 years. I don't want to wait that long. I do my school work and everything I am supposed to do. It's just hard to save a lot of money and a little at a time, all adds up fast. I will personally thank each and evey person who helps me out and when I get a Jeep, I will send you a picture showing what you helped me achieve. I appreciate any help at all and please mail me for my adress and any questions. Chris Banyots yots+@osu.edu

If you want someone to give you money for nothing, the last thing you want them doing is thinking. The most successful scam of this kind was perpetrated through a classified ad in a large number of US newspapers, some time in the 1940s, I believe. The ad read: 'Last chance to send ten dollars to...' followed by an address. Then again, this might very well belong in alt.folklore.urban... Anyway, what on earth do you need a Jeep for? This has nothing to do with Eudora, so don't spam this group. Maybe there
is a newsgroup for sad requests for money for useless items.

And I'd like to be among the first to make a donation to your cause. In fact, I think a rather sizable donation could be arranged. So if you would simply send me a $10 bill to cover the cost of insured, registered mail so I can send you the cash, I'll go ahead and be among your first contributors. :^) -- Art Kamlet Columbus, Ohio kamlet@infinet.com

I was chuckling through the comments with no thoughts of replying until
I saw this reply. So part of my reply is to Steve and the rest to Chris.
I hope you can sort it out.
Wellll, the tranisit system in Columbus is not really all that good, either;
but their is good transportation to OSU (which is north of downtown Columbus).
The problem is that if you are not north of the campus, you have to get
to downtown Columbus to get a bus there.
BUT, what the hey?? It was good enough for me. I spent almost four years
in all kinds of weather going from my east side home to downtown (only to
often just miss my N. High Street bus) and transferring to the High
Street bus to go to campus. Of course, if the class is on the west
campus (which started when I was there) you then have to use the OSU
transit system - which is now much improved.
Actually, west campus did not start when I was there, but regular classes
began to be held there then. Previously (and still) this is mainly the
agriculture and animal husbandry domain.
Yes, my friend, I emphathize with you, but not much. What really scares
me is that there is some poor sucker who is going to read this and
really send you some money.
Then, once you get your Jeep or car, you'll only complain about the
deplorable parking situation at the stadium or west parking lots.
Yeh! I've been there - done that! In fact, I still work in the
University area.

Listen buddy, I supported myself through school, working 40 hours a week and going to school 3/4 time and sure, it took a little over 5 years but what the hell? I didn't want to be in debt to anyone. And besides, my tuition was higher than yours at OSU. I had plenty of crappy jobs, and I couldn't afford luxuries like a fancy fucking car, but christ almight, get a grip kid. a jeep? they're deathtraps. I don't blame your parents. now get a goddamn job and stop leeching off the rest of us. There are a LOT of people out there who need the money more than you do - homeless people, mothers and kids on welfare, the disabled - and I'm far more inclined to give my money to those who need it than some whiny kid. Dear Spoiled Rotten Child: We have a Suzuki Sidekick. It is great fun.
When the weather is nice we ride around with the top back. It reminds us
of our winter vacation on St. John USVI. Here is how you do it. Work your
fanny off for 28 years and do without so you can raise two kids and pay
for their college. After you have done all this, you can finally get
something for yourself. Let us know how things turn out in 28 years.

Grow up, Chris,
Get a job (sorry to offend you by using such an obscene word "job").
After that, die. You're wasting good air.
