I would like to hear from everyone that was reached by the recent
spamming of APK and the Cleveland FreeNet. I have been in contact with an
attorney and due to recent developments would like to have written or
E-mail statements of people that were directly affected by this
mass-mailing.

Please E-mail all replies to this address and if you would be willing to
give further comment on the issue, please forward your phone number to me
as well.

The millennium is at hand. I actually hear a voice of reason on the net.
Thanks, Greg.

alt.internet.services?

Wow. So not only are you taking a *LOCAL* Cleveland issue and posting
it to a *world wide* forum, you're bitching about a moot point.

Perhaps the Internet community should bitch at you for wasting so much
of (now *uninvoled peoples*) disk space.

Whiny brat.

Who made you arbiter of what the Cleveland Freenet thinks? I think
that you should let the administration of Case Western Reserve University
handle this.

Or, I'll play Greg Boehnlein --

"You claim to be the official representative of Case Western Reserve
 University? I'm calling my lawyer."

Okay. I will.

I'll mail you the dozens of replies of people saying "Thanks for the info!"

To quote, e-mail received at noc@mail.multiverse.com:

1. "Wow. This is unreal. I'll be calling tonight.."
2. " I am truly impressed! I've never seen such a price for the amount
     of time ..."

Looks to me like Greg-boy is just having a hissy fit because we drove
the level of competition (us and EN) to a totally new level, and Greg-boy
can't take the heat.

[Get out of the kitchen.]

This isn't for the meek, or the weak.

By the way, nice show last night, Jason Bourne.. er.. Jeff Garvas.

Aren't you over-reacting just a little? Spamming, whether it comes from
a real person or not, is a part of everyday life. It's not illegal. Go
look in your snail mail box for examples of paper spam.

If the multiverse ad failed to mention the $50 startup fee, that's hardly
proof that there was malice or false advertising. Free-net is a free
service. To complain and whine because your pristine mailbox is overflowing
with spam is silly. On the other hand, if APK or NACS has a problem
with this this sort of mail, it's a trivial matter to ban *.multiverse.com
from accessing its ports.

Give it a rest and stop whining.

No. And for reasons that will be made clear within the next few days.

First of all, I'm not the one that is whining about false advertising.
You have me confused with someone else. I challenge you to find any post
made by me that details where I complained about the $50 fee was false
advertising. My posts deal directly with unethical behaviour of the
provider in question and not with the actual contents of the message.

Second, I don't feel that the public spamming of a FreeNet is ethical,
and unlike other wimps, I'm willing to stand behind my beliefs. I will
not be pushed around by lawyers and large corporations. Sorry, but I
don't take well to threats of legal action.

Thirdly, I'm doing this on my own accord, for my own reasons. If you
don't feel that you would like to take part, then fine. This is, in all
effects, a public opinion poll, of which I have every legal right to do.
You have stated your perspective on this, and this is great. I'd say that
the 51 new mail messages in my box will probably NOT agree with you, but
you have your right to your opinion.

Gee jamie. Did you manage to forget that a huge chunk of Free-Net
individuals come from _other states_.. Maybe even out of the country?
The 'Cleveland Free-Net' is the original free-net. It has 300-400
people using it during its prime hours (9am till midnight maybe?)
Don't tell me this is local. Spamming hamnet would be local. Spamming
a system this big is huge.

No, I think this public awarness is going to prevent the public disk space
from being consumed with you in the future. Consider what you, richard,
did when you spammed Free-net. You abused over 600megs of hard drive
space. Is it just a coincidence that when the spam went down,
robin.ins.cwru.edu died, and was later reported as 'eating is disk' ?

Arbiter? How about a key person in Cleveland Internet (he is an ISP?)
thats interested in leading the people who were harrassed by you, to
their ultimate decision of recourse.

: "You claim to be the official representative of Case Western Reserve

hahaha. Cleveland Freenet is a community system. CWRU does nothing for
the community when it comes to problems and you know that, so we must
take it on ourself.

Jamie, you're obviously sending mail to noc from richard or some silly
account you've made @nin.net.. Nobody mails a NOC when they're impressed
with something. They mail a NOC when the system won't do something its
supposed to.

: By the way, nice show last night, Jason Bourne.. er.. Jeff Garvas.

Muahahaha -ROFL- I expected this exact response out of Mr. Rishaw.
For your information Jamie, I intend to be on the show next Sunday
with more information then I had last night ;) It was posponed mainly
due to the fact that Steve has finals and hadn't enough time to prepare.

I was not trying to hack your machine Jamie :) I was trying to access it
in a legal method, but i'm denied access so I stoped my attempts.
(notice, it didn't take me 5days)

: perhaps you should speak with your employee about this matter.

Was that directed to Greg? Tisk Tisk dear Jamie. You must have your head
up your ass again. I do not work for NACS (New Age Consulting) in any
way. I have never been paid for any services by NACS to this date, and
have never been an employee of NACS in any way, shape, or form. I am
simply a user on his system, and a friend of Gregs. There is a difference
between a good guy using a system without compensation, and and asshole
getting paid a salary.

i'd be ashamed to sign my articles like that.

Not.

Yes freenet has people from all over the world.. Its still just the
Fleanet (sm). Hell... even a monstor like Netcom.com is just a site on
the net in comparison to the whole of the net.

Oh cummon... puh-lease...

Off the top of my head... some things CWRU does for the community
WRT Freenet...

- Maintains CFN.

- Has a helpdesk to answer questions.

- Pays people to come in and fix problems off hours.

- Pays programmers to add asked for features.

- Works to upgrade machines when possible.

- Responds to complaints from the community (I know... people use to
	complain about me ;-)

- etc etc etc...
