Donatos 2084 N. High St. 294-5371 12' Pep & Mush, $10.49 (thin crust) The pie; The crust is excellent! Crispy through and through. Very flaky, but not dried out. The sauce is good, but it's the weak point. Not very spicy, and sort of bland, however, they have found a great combination with the other attributes. The toppings were also excellent! The pepperoni slices are very thick, and completely covered the pie, and had a very nice "spiciness" to them. The mushrooms were obviously sliced fresh, and had suburb taste. The cheese is applied somewhat light, but taste good. This is a relatively a thin pie, and while very tasty, with great flavor and balance, it could use more "zing" if it were up to me. Donatos attempt to master the correct aspect combination, end with a great pie, but falls short of being perfect. I give this pie an 8.5. The place; The dinning area is large, comfortable, and well appointed, but somewhat dark towards the rear of the store. They also offer "bar" eating for those inclined. Self serve drinks is nice too, for those inclined. The seating is very good and well thought out. You can opt for a window seat of High St., or as stated, go for the stool-and-bar deal. The chairs are somewhat hard, but not otherwise uncomfortable. The floor and seats were all clean, but there were quite a few tables dirty with food debris left on them, and there were lots of read newspapers lying about. The rest of the area was adequately cleaned. The atmosphere is good. They have five elevated televisions, but two of them had fuzzy pictures. The volumes on the sets seemed overly loud to me though. There is a lot of patron noise, but not excessive. This seems to be a popular spot for the local college kids, especially toward the rear were the buffet is. The serving speed is good. Expect to have your small pie in the promised 15 minutes. The wait staff is not like a regular waiter/waitress. You pay when you order, and they bring you out your food, along with anything else you may need/want, and that's about it. With the self serve drink station, there is no need for the staff to revisit you, so if you need something else, be prepared to get up and ask for it. Additional note: As stated, this store offers a lunch buffet in the rear. A great attribute for someone who wants different styles and types of pie in one sitting. I give this place a 6. That gives Donatos an eat-in score of 7.25
