Synopsis: Missing Main Class File in PM causes debugger not to stop in
init/main on load.

Description: When creating a Project, if on the Create Project page under the
Applet tab, you don't specify the "Main Class File" as something like
"Bubbles.java", the debugger won't stop the applet as it brings it up. (Also
see the "Main Class File" on the Edits Project Page under the Debug/Browse
tab.)

Also "Main Class File" is confusing? Should I type in the name of a "class"
file (*.class) here? Or a "source" file (*.java) here? "Source File
containing main/init" might be clearer.

appletmanager

Synopsis: click on project run while debugger is up, popup the "kill session"
dialog

Description: Click on project run button while the debugger is up, jde popup
the "kill session" dialog. The dialog should not popped up.

appletmanager

Synopsis: Project Copy menu item enabled when no project selected

Description: When there is no selected project, either because the portfolio
is empty or because the user deselected the current project in the portfolio
manager, the Project=>Copy menu item should be disabled. This is harder, but
the Project=>Paste... menu item should be disabled when there is no project
in the clipboard.

appletmanager

Synopsis: importing an empty portfolio doesn't clear the previous project
attributes

Description: To reproduce:

open an existing portfolio and project import a portfolio that doesn't have
any project in it the toolbar now shows the new portfolio and no project
click on the 'Edit Project' icon the folder tabs still show the old project
attributes

appletmanager

Synopsis: applet with exit menu item will exit all of jws

Description: I have an applet which opens an external window. There is a menu
item on the window to exit, and when the user chooses OK, I call
System.exit(0);

This unfortunately exits the entire jde!

appletmanager

Synopsis: paste dialog needs to disable some fields

Description: The Project FIle is read-only in the Paste dialog so the URL and
File radio boxes and the file chooser button that apply to this textfield
should be disabled.

appletmanager

Synopsis: project copy/paste doesn't creat new project build page correctly.

Description:

select an applet project which have a source file copy and paste the
project select created by "copy" select "No" to include source apply the
paste bring up project->edit->build page the build page say that the project
have a source file which is incorrect

appletmanager

Synopsis: in edit project, need to use FileOrUrlPanel on some TextFields

Description: the following Project Edit textfields should allow the user to
enter a file or URL via FileOrUrlPanel and should check for a valid URL if it
is a URL entry:

Portfolio->Portfolio Image URL Debug/Run->Image URL (for an image project)
Debug/Run->Run Page URL (for a remote project)

the following Project Create textfields should allow the user to enter a file
or URL:

Image->Image URL
Remote->Run Page URL

appletmanager

Synopsis: JWS Menu bar icons not consistently greyed out when no project
selected

Description: the menu bar icons which aren't capable of being used if a
project isn't selected (i.e. the edit project, debug, and run icons) don't
consistenty show as being greyed out.

to reproduce:

1.start jws 2.create a new portfolio - and don't add any projects. (note that
the edit project, debug, and run icons are appropriately "greyed" out)
3.close tool with that portfolio selected. 4.restart jws

result:

even though no Project is selected, all icons indicate usablity (though they
should be greyed out). ie.. the run icon isn't greyed out, even though there
isn't anything selected to run...

appletmanager

Synopsis: View Source Path on Debug/Browse page does nothing

Description:

bringup jws select portfolio and project click on project manager select
Debug/Browse page Click on View Source Path ,

nothing happens.

appletmanager

Synopsis: Images are not being added to the run menu

Description: Just as the synopsis says.

appletmanager

Synopsis: Terminal displays IOException when copying project from jdk
portfolio

Description:

bringup jws select portfolio jdk, select project blink click on copy
project icon -

the cmdtool window displays "IOException"

appletmanager

Synopsis: dev3->dev4, if portfolio created under .jde, get error message at
startup

Description: Dev3 uses ~/.jde. Dev4 moves it to ~/.jws. If the user created
any portfolios under ~/.jde, they will no longer be found. (The personal
portfolio is a special case, and works.) They will get a popup at startup
saying the portfolio can't be read.

Work around: Have the user hand edit the master portfolio file, pointing at
the new location of the portfolio.

appletmanager

Synopsis: initialize Project Import dialog Project File field with .prj

Description: see synopsis.

appletmanager

Synopsis: error message in import project popup is too close to bottom border
line

Description:

causing underscore "_" character not to be shown.

appletmanager

Synopsis: need to allow spaces in project names

Description: Projects are currently setup to handle spaces in the source path
for a project but not in the project name itself. Several customers are
running into problems because we allow them to enter a project name with a
space but then they have trouble trying to debug or run their project.

appletmanager

Synopsis: ClassCastException - try cloning jws window from newly created jws
window

Description:

bringup jws select "New Window" under File menu go to newly created window
and select "Clone Window" under file menu

get following exception

appletmanager

Synopsis: jws should have "delete all" button for file list items

Description: Currently there are 3 buttons for file list items in the project
page "Add All in directory", "Add Selected...", and "Delete". But there is no
"Delete All" button. If for some reason users want to delete all list items
and reconfig a new list they can't. It would take a lot of work to delete one
by one item of the list. There are several times, I make a mistake of "Add
All in Directory" and it take me long time to delete unwanted files by doing
deleting one file at a time.

appletmanager

Synopsis: project edit page doesn't get update when current portfolio is
removed

Description:

create a portfolio create an applet project (Blink.java) bring up project
edit page remove the current portfolio

personal portfolio now loaded and the current project is the checkers example
project. But the edit page still contain information from previous Blink.java
project.

appletmanager

Synopsis: can't delete a portfolio in jws once portfolio .psf file is no
longer existed

Description: Can't delete a portfolio in jws once the portfolio .psf file is
no longer existed.

create a portfolio p1 in user home directory from a shell window delete
file p1.psf take down jws and bring it up again
jws give an error message:
"Could not read portfolio 'file:/home/username/p1.psf'"

there is no way in jws to remove this portfolio because it is not listed in
portfolio list.

The portfolio is not listed in other sub-menus and it does get listed in
File->Remove sub-menu. However, click on File->Remove to remove it, jws give
out a error message "Could not delete portfolio" and the portfolio will live
on jws. Could you reopen the bug or should I file a different one.

appletmanager

Synopsis: Motif warnings when bring up the Debugger page

Description: When I clicked on the Debugger tool-bar button to go to the
Debugger, I got the following warning repeated many times:

Warning:
    Name: HorScrollBar
    Class: XmScrollBar

appletmanager

Synopsis: removing current proj in cloned browser doesn't update current proj
lbl in clone

Description:

Clone the browser Remove the current project in the cloned browser

The original browser updates the current project label but the cloned browser
project label still contains the removed project name

appletmanager

Synopsis: copying a project gives incorrect feedback about when copy is
complete.

Description: Copy a project with a lot of source files, such as jws. You get
the icon that the project has been created long before it's done copying all
the files. Also the performance of the browser is extremely poor while the
copying is going on.

(This is because the copy is done on a separate thread. Should probably check
for thread death before displaying icon - and also maybe have a busy icon.
Needs more thought.)

appletmanager

builder

Synopsis: build window does not show the whole long path or classpath

Description: When a project have a long path or long classpath, the build
window doesn't show the whole paths on its window. The long path may need to
be able to wrap around or the window may have to provide a horizontal scroll
bar for scrolling.

builder

Synopsis: build/project doesn't check for "file up to date" correctly

Description:

bring up jde create a project which have a java file that contained several
class.
In my testcase, I used DrawTest.java which contains 3 classes:
DrawTest.class DrawPanel.class, and DrawControls.class

build the project to produce the above 3 class files delete 2 of the 3
class files that doesn't have same name as java file.
In my case, I delete DrawPanel.class and DrawControls.class files
build the project again.

jde build does not build and give out a message "All file are up to date".

We need output from the compiler for this one. So, it will not be solved in
the 1.0 timeframe.

builder

Synopsis: Build one file doesn't check for file up-to-date

Description:

Build one file doesn't check for file up-to-date.

bring up jde build page push-on File toggle enter a java filename in the
text field build the file build the file again build does the build again
which it should not.

builder

Synopsis: Previous and Next icons on build window don't behave same as ones
on the editor

Description: After clicking on the error message, the editor comes up, now if
I try to use Next and Previous icons on build windows, the highlighted bar
just flickers but does not go the next or previous error msg location. But
the Next and Previous icons on the editor works just fine.

builder

Synopsis: Previous and Next buttons not disabled before there is output

Description: Press the build toolbar button, when the builder comes up the
previous and next error buttons are enabled even though I haven't even
started a build.

builder

Synopsis: The build button should be the first button

Description: Shouldn't the build button be the first button on the buttonbar,
and the next/prev be the last buttons? If not, then the String Searcher
should move it's next/prev buttons to be first.

builder

Synopsis: build does not detect recursive build

Description:

jde build does not detect the recursive build.

create a project which include itself as a subproject initiate the build

the build keeps checking for file until it runs out of stack space.

builder

Synopsis: can't see end of classpath

Description: Even when I scrolled all the way to the right, I was unable to
see the last characters of a classpath (about 2 1/2 times as long as the
window width) on the display of the build command on the build panel.

builder

Synopsis: (PC only) build cmd fails when JAVA_HOME, HOME, and JWS_HOME are
set to long

Description: When the JAVA_HOME, JWS_HOME, and HOME are all set to long
paths, the builder puts up an error msg 'Can't exec ...'. I suspect this is
due the command-line exceeding 512 characters on the PC.

builder

Synopsis: if no existing source file builder faultly say that all files are
up to date

Description:

create an applet project which have a source file from a shell eindow
delete the source file build the project

builder replies "All files are up to date" which is incorrect.

builder

Synopsis: portfolio/project from last jws session when restarting jws (on
intel-S2)

Description: this is a very subtle thing -

when I am using jws on intel-S2, i expect that when I restart jws on intel-S2
, it will load the portfolio/project from the last jws intel-S2 session.

bring up jws(intel-S2) (rlogin to intel-s2 machine from sparc to run jws)
select portfolio/project e.g. applets/TestRect3 exit jws

bring up jws (sparc-S2) select portfolio/project e.g. jdk/hangman exit jws

bring up jws (intel-S2) jws loads jdk/hangman as default portfolio/project
instead of applets/TesTRect3

builder

Synopsis: Links are not active in the builder output

Description: Build an application that has source errors, such as a build all
on the JWS project.

The cursor doesn't change shape over the links and a click doesn't do
anything at all. Next and Prev still work (although the first time you press
Next error you get the second message, not the first).

builder

Synopsis: win95, builder hangs when building a standalone applet

Description: In Win95, builder hangs when building a standalone applet

I took the DrawTest example and change filename to lowercase (drawtest.java)
along with the class name in the file. Here is the drawtest.java file that I
used as the standalone applet:

Synopsis: JWS build messages disappear after iconifying tool

Description: From a customer: (verifed on dev4)

on the Win32 platform only (verifed on NT)

When I just tried to build a project, and get errors, I minimize (iconify)
the JWS, and I go to my own shareware editor [...], then I bring up the JWS
again, to the build manager screen (I know it's the build manager screen
because the screen has on it the build manager icon bar). I am surprised to
find that the build manager screen is missing all the text showing me my
build errors, so I have to build it again to get my errors again.
