Actually those things worked very well at their intended purpose. Wealth redistrubition and job 
creation. The Prohibition Drives have pumped BILLIONS of dollars into the law enforcement 
industry, and this has benefited police unions, construction unions, computer software companies 
that make profiling and modeling software, lobbyists, pharaceutical firms that market drug 
testing products, thousands upon thousands of clerical workers who process all the paperwork.

The merits of any socialist program are based solely on the number of unionized jobs it creates 
and the amount of wealth that it diverts from the capitalist private section, not its actual 
effectiveness. The prohibition movement has been a great sucecss in both of these areas. 

Full-blown gun control would be a great boon, it would require billions more to enforce, and the 
natural opposition of gun owners would ensure that assets forfiture would have to be invoked 
(own a gun, lose you car), along with draconian prison terms (own a gun, 20 to life) which would 
insure more capital spending for prisons and alw enforcement.

Every nation needs an enemy, and drug users and gun owners are the best whipping boys now that 
we don't have the russians to kick around.

Authoritarian socialism is the most popular form of government on the planet.

Under federal law, by 10/2000 every resident will be required to have a unique ID number and 
this will be required to access ANY government service.
