Cheap modems aren't bad if you know a WHOLE LOT about computers.  I've made
that cheap ass Tiger modem work just fine on several occasions, but it
sometimes took a ton of tweaking to get it to work.  Tiger was of absolutely
no help - their technicians are brain-dead!

Also, never buy anything from Tiger Direct that you even THINK you may have
to return.  Their returns dept. is worse than useless.  Tiger sent me a
WRONG part - totally wrong.  I called them and they told me I had to speak
with MY salesman (gee, I kind of felt special.)  Unfortunately, after 4
failed attempts at contacting this worthless piece of semi-human trash I
decided to drop the issue (the part was only $7.00).

A friend of mine had a similar bad experience trying to return something;
only this was a computer motherboard.  He finally had to get an attorney to
write them a letter, after which they took the return.
