No. However, any institution that claims to respect academic freedom
(as most universities, colleges, and larger institutes of technolgy
do), should respect it everywhere; computers should not be exempt.

You mean they don't mind lists when they are:
   open
   documented (reasonably well)
   critical of violations of academic freedom

But then do mind them when they are:
   secret
   based on hearsay
   promote violations of academic freedom
    (e.g "she's a known Republican, don't hire")

Gee, you are right, they are hypocritical :-)
