CALL for PAPERS
Papers on innovative applications of artificial intelligence methods and
other research topics in artificial intelligence are welcome. Research
topics of interest include, but are not restricted to :
Machine Learning
Neural Networks
Computer Vision
Logic Programming
Knowledge Representation
Robotics
Knowledge Engineering
Uncertainty in Artificial Systems
The conference will also include a poster stream which is designed as a
forum for presentation of practical work in an environment which will
encourage informal discussions about methodologies and techniques.
INITIAL SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
Papers should be submitted as close as possible to final form and must not
exceed six single sided A4 pages. The first page should include the title
and abstract and should leave space for, but not include, the authors'
names and affiliations. A cover page should be supplied giving the title of
the paper, the name and affiliation of each author together with the postal
address, the e-mail address and the phone and fax numbers of a designated
contact author. Type font should be no smaller than 10 point except in
footnotes. Four copies of the paper and the front cover should be
supplied. This initial submission may be on hard copy or fax.
Papers should be sent to

FINAL SUBMISSION OF ACCEPTED PAPERS
Accepted papers will be submitted in final camera-ready form, on hard copy,
according to preparation guidelines to be provided upon notification of
acceptance. Authors will retain copyright but will be required to give
permission for publication of their papers in the conference proceedings.
SUBMISSION DEADLINES
Deadline for receipt of paper submissions Friday 29 May
Notification of acceptance/rejection Friday 24 July
Final papers in camera-ready form ready for printing Thursday 20 August
CALL for POSTERS
The poster stream at AI'92 is designed as a forum for the presentation of
practical work. Topics which are suitable for presentation in the poster
stream are methodologies for knowledge engineering and knowledge analysis;
completed expert systems applications in agriculture, business or industry;
and applications of other artificial intelligence techniques. Posters
whose main purpose is the marketing of a product will not be accepted.
The environment for poster presentations will encourage informal
discussions about methodologies and techniques. The poster stream will be
held in an exhibition area. The posters will be displayed for a
significant period and time will be allocated for authors to be present at
their poster for a full session. Demonstrations of software will be
possible for authors who bring portable computers. The organising
committee will attempt to provide full-size compatible screens. Video
facilities will also be available.
INITIAL SUBMISSION FOR POSTERS STREAM
Submissions to the poster stream should be in the form of an abstract, with
a maximum length of two pages, describing the work which will later be
exhibited on a poster. The first page should leave space for, but not
include, the authors' names and affiliations. A cover page should be
supplied, giving the title of the poster, the name and affiliation of each
author together with the postal address, e-mail address and the phone and
fax numbers of a designated contact author. Four copies of the abstract
and the cover page should be submitted. Final abstracts from the poster
stream will be bound and made available to all conference delegates.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ABOUT AI'92 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
THE CONFERENCE
AI'92 is the 1992 Australian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence,
conducted under the auspices of the Australian Computer Society and the
National Committee for Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems.
The conference will cover practical and research issues and is intended to
encourage the mixing of practitioners and researchers in the Artifical
Intelligence community. To promote this, the conference has been divided
into two streams, one consisting of formal papers and the other for more
informal poster sessions.
As well as being Australia's National Conference in AI, it has
traditionally attracted interest from overseas, especially the Pacific
region.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Dr Michael Georgeff, director of the Australian Artificial Intelligence
Institute Ltd. based in Melbourne, will be speaking on the applications of
artificial intelligence in Australia and will describe some of the
innovative projects being undertaken by the Institute.
Professor Scott Fahlman, of Carnegie Mellon University in USA, will
summarise the current state of research and applications in artificial
intelligence and neural networks. During the talk, Scott will touch on
some philosophical issues such as whether formalism is essential for AI and
whether AI is good or bad science.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
There will be trade exhibits, tutorials and a full social programme
associated with the conference. Companies interested in being trade
exhibiters and individuals interested in presenting tutorials should
contact the organising committee.
TOURS
A number of pre and post conference tours will be available varying in size
and type depending on the requirements of delegates. Some examples are 4WD
tours of the rugged West Coast, trout and tuna fishing tours, overnight
cruises on luxury charter vessels and scenic flights over wilderness areas.
Accompanying person tours will be offered to include the historic village
of Richmond; wine tasting and lunch at Moorilla, one of our famous
vineyards; and visits to our beautiful national parks.
ACCOMMODATION
A variety of accommodation has been booked at convention rates. You can
choose budget accommodation, Colonial bed and breakfast or the luxury of a
five-star hotel.
