The School of Business, Carleton University, and the Department of Computer Science, University of Ottawa, have obtained a grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada for a project entitled "Automation and Support of Decisions with Strategic Interactions". We invite applications for a postdoctoral position on this project. Candidates must have a recently completed Ph.D. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Artificial Intelligence (in particular, Knowledge Representation, Knowledge-based Systems, Planning, as well as programming in Prolog) and Sofware Engineering, and an active interest in Decision Analysis and Support. A record of research in at least one of these areas is a definite asset. The position is available immediately and guaranteed for three years. The salary is $27,500/year (under review), plus an excellent benefit package. The postdoctoral fellow will be an essential member of the project's team, consisting of three faculty and several graduate students, and will play an active role in all aspects of the project, including the major research decisions. Duties include participation in the development of a logic-based decision support system, in the supervision of graduate students, in the publications that will arise from the project, and in several decision support tasks realized in co-operation with industrial partners. Our research environment includes a complete graduate program in Computer Science run by the Ottawa-Carleton Institute of Computer Science (whose 10 out of over 50 members work in AI) and a research-oriented Master's program in the School of Business (with 20 faculty). The Carleton University's Decision Analysis Laboratory groups four faculty and a number of graduate students. Ottawa, Canada's capital, is a pleasant city of 800,000, surrounded by beautiful countryside, with active cultural life and a unique bilingual atmosphere.
