I missed the original post. What version of Excel do you use?
Current versions of Excel are supposed to be Y2K compliant, which
means that they should accept 4 digit dates for calculation. OTOH,
some PCs have a CMOS that won't support Y2K and need to have the CMOS
updated. - FF-

|Shawn,
|
|I don't believe I've seen a successful solution posted to your
|question. While I can't offer you help with Excel, if you do need
|support for dates before 1/1/1900, I would suggest our spreadsheet
|program, AS-EASY-AS. AS-EASY-AS will convert 19th century and earlier
|dates with ease.
|
|Simply format the cell to display the date as MM/DD/YYYY, then enter
|any date with the 4 digit year. AS-EASY-AS will convert the date to
|its numerical value, and display it in MM/DD/YYYY format.
|
|Dates before 1/1/1900 have a negative value associated with them. For
|example, 5/15/1897 has a value of -959. You can manipulate the dates
|as needed, and AS-EASY-AS will show the resulting date as MM/DD/YYYY.
|
|A 30-day evaluation copy of AS-EASY-AS can be downloaded from the
|TRIUS homepage, http://www.triusinc.com.
