XESS from Applied Information Systems includes a number of matrix-valued
functions called embedded tools.  These functions return a matrix 
of values rather than a single value like most spreadsheet functions.  The
advantage of this technique is that recalcs automatically update values 
just like for other functions.  You don't have to wait to execute a command
or macro to get your results.

Embedded tools (functions) include:

	DFT,FFT,INVDFT,INVFFT	Discrete and Fast Fourier Transforms
	MMUL,INVERT		Matrix multiply, inverse,
	TRANSPOSE		      and transpose
	EIGEN			Eigenvalues of matrix

plus a variety of tools that fit curves, etc.

XESS provides a variety of other features for scientific/engineering
applications and a full client/server API for integrating with other
applications.
