As this compilation of useful programs is quite long, I'm posting this article
listing major changes (additions and updates) for those of you who have read
version 1.9 posted on Oct 24, 1992.

The information in different msdos-archives postings should be more or less
accurate as of Jan 4, 1992.  As the world of MSDOS archives is rapidly
changing, there will be lots of changes before the next version is released.
To keep yourself informed of the latest and greatest of MSDOS archive files,
do read the upload announcements on comp.archives.msdos.announce newsgroup
(or subscribe to the MSDOS-Ann mailing list if you do not have netnews access).

If you use bang paths, substitute your nearest neighbor which is also

Sample command (which gets our catalog of MS-DOS files):

/PDGET MAIL PD:<MSDOS.FILEDOCS>SIMLIST.ZIP UUENCODE

These commands should be sent as the body of a regular email message.
Do not include a signature because it confuses the server.  If you
have xxdecode, you may wish to specify XXENCODE instead of UUENCODE to
avoid character translation problems.

Comments, questions, and suggestions should be directed to the LISTSERV
or TRICKLE manager at one of these addresses, depending on which server

The message must contain just the following text (at the beginning
of the line):
   send help
Do not include a signature because it may confuse the server.

Our customary format for the file names when announcing programs for
ANONYMOUS FTP is e.g.
    garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/dirutil/dirmat20.zip  or
    /pc/dirutil/dirmat20.zip
IMPORTANT!!! The format for the MAIL SERVER is slightly different:
    send pc/dirutil/dirmat20.zip
In other words omit / from the path when using our mail server.

If you don't get any response to your mail server requests, under no
circumstances keep sending the same request over and over again.
Please ask your own site's system manager to construct a returnable
mail path for you.
