I have just placed the FTP Software shell for Trumpet newsreader up on 

  tasman.cc.utas.edu.au(131.217.10.1)

at the location

  pub/pc/trumpet/abi-version/newsftp.zip

I have had no way of testing this out, and it is offered as is.

Here is the documentation file accompanying it.

Newsx is a wrapper program for Peter Tattam's TRUMPET news reader.
Newsx enables reading/posting of news using FTP Software's PC-TCP kernel.
Newsx is compatible with FTP Software kernels 2.0 and 2.1.

A batch file that reads news on my system:

\pctcp\ethdrv
newsx
\pctcp\inet unload

During news/mail posting error messages from the FTP kernel are randomly
scattered on the screen. Posting seems to work properly. Reading works just
fine.

need to be renamed to news.exe or news2.exe
