Archive-name: auto/comp.unix.aix/ftpd-comsat-ntalk-ncftp-for-AIX-3-2-x-available Host: ftp.egr.duke.edu [128.109.156.35] DIR: archives/network Files: comsat.tar.Z, ftpd+2.tar.Z, ncftp.tar.Z, ntalk-5.4.tar.Z I got really tired of dealing with the utmp file (working on a good utmpd, but it still hangs from time to time), so last night after the Nth complaint about talk telling people the wrong user name I decided to do some quick ports... For comsat (biff service) and talkd I simply added code that: only uses USER_PROCESS utmp entries; and verifies that the utmp process is actually running. This should all but eliminate false notifications. I grabbed ftpd+2 per someone's posting yesterday and made it available (with my local changes, that is). Ncftp is a nice ftp client I grabbed from comp.sources.misc today. It does seem nice... -John -- ************************************************************************* * John P.
