Display Help, and in the Index tab, search for "save", the scroll down to
"Convert an Access 2000 Database to Access 97" and you'll get the
instructions, summarized:

On the menu, Tools | Database Utilities | Convert | To Prior Access Database
Version

I have heard/read of few, if any, problems with this feature. Of course, you
will lose any Access 2000 - unique features you may have used, so you will
need to thoroughly re-test your database application.
