Just as an aside for those of us using Cabletron FDMMIMs in our network(s), verison 1.02.02 is available for the firmware that corrects a problem with the bridge suddenly getting real stupid and apparently not working. The basic problem centers around the fact that in order to do translational briding, the MIM has to disassemble the packet(s) for reassembly on the other side. If the packet disassembles as junk, the packet is reassembled, and discarded. However, in versions of the firmware up to 1.02, the buffer (there are 32 of them) wasn't released for reuse, so, at some point, the FDDI ring seems to be out of service due to the cpu on the card running out of buffers to use for legitimate packets. Solution is version 1.02.02 of the firmware, flash downloadable from remote lanview or a tftp server. Customer support in NH can provide... Anyone else see this problem, or has it only been me???? -- Bryan D. Boyle |Exxon doesn't pay me to voice their opinions... I have to add, however, (and this is after being chastised by a supplier...which is the basis for another discussion...:-|) that the co. is not sure this is the fix for the problem we are having-so, as they say, your mileage will vary. Will report back if it doesn't solve the problem...for those that have replied with like problems with this hdwe.; will summarize for y'all. well, another new year is underway...:-) -- \ Bryan D.
