I am running a Dell 7000 Laptop, 128meg of ram, with Win 98(FE), Axent/Symantec
Raptor Mobile  and recently installed a Motorola Surfboard 4100 modem via USB.
This works well, but if I attempt to boot
without the Cable Modem connected (i remove the USB cable,this is supposed to be
a
portable machine) Windows crashes multiple times after initialization with:

Fatal exception 06 at 0028:00000017 (no module name given)

eventually Zone Alarm indicates in failed to load, I lose my desktop and the
system locks.
Reboot with the modem connect and it's OK. I've already tried:

1. Setting up a Hardware Profile without the cable modem. When I attempt to
exclude the Cable modem it instantly crashes the system and forces an automatic
self reboot. The modem remains in the profile when I reboot.

2. Download new drivers from Motorola. The file I received has nothing that
looks like a driver and Motorola is closed for the Christmas until Wednesday.

I need to be able to connect to the WWW when I am away from home with DUN but
want the speed of the cable modem at home.

This is way beyond my understanding of WinDoze, although I do think it's in
Networking or drivers. Anyone out there have any ideas or suggestions about what
to change, where to look, how to find the module that's crashing or what to
update to get this to work.
