Odd problem with @Home service

I am having trouble with my new cable modem service. Whenever I request
a Web page, it loads up only the first 10 KB or so -- the background or
the very top of the page, if anything -- then stalls. However, I have
been able to use e-mail without problems and am doing OK with Usenet,
although it stalled after loading 700 or so message headers. I tried
uninstalling Netscape and putting on the version of Internet Explorer
provided with the modem, but that did not help.

The problem may have something to do with the age of my computer -- it's
an old P150 with 16MB of RAM. On the other hand, in the past I ran ISDN
on this computer with no problems, and I read one post from someone who
says he uses a 33Mhz 486.

I e-mailed the cable-modem people, and they said the following:

"Your modem is operating very well. The levels are very good, and your
area is not having any connectivity issues. Since you have an old PC,
with only 16 MB RAM, we recommend leaving some free space on your hard
drive for swap files. If you can afford to gets more system memory, we
recommend upgrading the RAM to at least 32 MB."

I tried clearing 250MB of disk space, but that did nothing. Radio Shack,
the only nearby place I knew of, only carried RAM in 128MB, which I
don't think would even fit in my computer and would cost about Can$60.
Before I make that purchase, go searching around town for a 32MB RAM
upgrade or turn in my cable modem, I'd like to know if there's anything
else I can try first.

Thanks for your help.
