"for 3 years" -- I didn't know @home has existed for that long! I'm in San Ramon and connected in January 2000. Did you have your modem upgraded lately? When mine was upgraded, the tech told me that @home was switching over to dynamic IP addressing. My IP addresses lating have been in a completely different sub-net from the one I stated with in Jan. The 2nd level tech that asked you to switch to dynamic IP may be correct. If someone else is using the address that you have configured, it may explain some of your problems. It may explain why you can't get out of your local area. Since you may be coming in through a new sub-net (with a bad IP address for that sub-net), when requests leave that sub-net, the replies cannot find there way back to you since they are being routed to the sub-net containing your IP address (which is not your sub-net). The tech that said "IRQ conflict" demonstrates that lack of technical ability most of @home's support people have (or don't have). Any problem that cannot be solved beyond cycling the modem and PC is beyond their ability. Give dynamic IP a try and see if it solves your problem. You can always change back. BTW, if you want to keep the static IP address because you have set up a web site, that is against @home's accepted use policy (maybe it wasn't 3 years ago). Good luck.
