I'm not sure what choice you're being offered for the net card, so this may not apply to you... When I had mine installed, they provided a 3Com network card. I had heard that they would only give me a PCI card if I had no ISA slots available. When the installer showed up (with an ISA card), all of my ISA slots were full. He went back out to the truck and got a PCI card. Regarding the software, there's probably no technical reason to use their software. If you're concerned, maybe you could set up another partition on your hard drive and install a separate copy of Windows for the installer to use. You'll need Partition Magic or something similar, of course. It may sound like too much trouble, but it could come in handy for other things in the future. I have an extra NT partition that I use for testing and experimenting. If I mess it up, I can re-install and not lose anything - and my primary installation is unharmed. -- Dave dm7@ZhomeZ.com remove Z's for email
