I have a 2501 router which has a clean configuration so when you boot up and
after post has run successfully you are prompted to enter the initial
configuration dialog (from the console input). At this point you would
enter a Y or N followed by ENTER or press ENTER for the default answer of
YES. This is where the problem lies. You cannot enter anything from the
keyboard and the prompt remains unchanged until you turn off the router. I
have another good router and have verified the cable and terminal. NVRAM
and RAM were physically reset. My guess is that the line drivers (IC chip
signal drivers) for the input (receive) are toasted. See the boot-up sceen
contents below. I have a couple questions for the group.
1. Has anyone had this problem and if so what was the resolution ie., who
fixed it, and how much did it cost?
2. Who provides the most reasonable prices and best service for repairing a
Cisco router?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Brian Leslie
