I know >there's one for the Amiga and the Mac now but what about the IBM and >compatibles? > > This is a real marketing delimma.. It's impossible to make a toaster without the Amiga graphics chip set. In fact all the MAC toaster is is an Amiga that's controlled through an external SCSI cable and remote software.. Now if you really want to, you can buy a Video toaster and by the Vortex 486sx board (which fits into a Video Toaster, which is really an Amiga) and let the machine run 486 based software on a window, or separate screen display alongside the Amiga software, and probably in fact the Amiga toaster switcher software.. Also, Newtek has announced that a version of the toaster (which is sold with the Amiga, just like the MAC version is) that has windows based remote control software included with it. Why not mention this is really an Amiga.. Well some people can only buy or put on purchase orders that they are buying a PC or MAC video peripheral. It increases sales, plus Newtek bundles an Amiga with their toaster board.. So, yes, you can even make the Video toaster an IBM compatible by buying the Vortex 486 bridgeboard and a decent VGA card. It will even use the toaster's framestore as a hard drive.. Isn't that amazing... >Computer and Video Imaging (Animation included) major at >Cogswell Polytechnical College. >EMAIL: jele@eis.calstate.edu >Internet: bbs.mirage@tsoft.sf-bay.org >UUCP : ...apple!tsoft!bbs.mirage -- ****************************************************** dburnett@emunix.emich.edu EMU Mathematics Lab Consultant Enabling Solutions PO BOX 318, Ypsilanti, MI 48198 *****************************************************
