Which Program?

Hi,
I have just finished helping to organize (from the graphics end) a
conference here in Toronto, and did most of the basic design in good old
WordPerfect 7 (believe it or not!).

However, I would like to invest in something that will be more user-friendly
if I ever do this again. This is just a sideline that a friend of mine and
I got involved in, and which she / I / we may be asked to do again. I also
am designing my own web-page, and have had cause to use Corel Draw on
previous occasions.

My question is what kind of page layout program should I consider (I'm
pretty picky, having been a photographer at one point, and often find myself
wanting to be very precise about computer/graphics design)? However, I'm
not a professional, being a psychotherapist, and do not want to spend the
earth on something I won't use, or which will be too complicated to learn.

Any advice?

Please post replies to my email address:

Many thanks in advance for replying,

Geert van der Veen, in Toronto.

No advice. Geez there are only 2. PageMaker and QuarkXpress... either
one would do!

Use PM. It has excellent control and the items you create can also be
easily converted to HTML and PDF for web/electronic distribution. Quark is
OK too but I think PM is the smarter choice for the future.
