Available Modules

#151

Hi folks,

After questions on availability of modules, below is a list of all modules
available via. anon ftp from both ftp.epcc.ed.ac.uk and swedishchef.lerc.nasa.gov

In addition, the /unsupported directory at swedishchef has all the stuff on the
CD distributed by SGI at SIGGRAPH - there is quite a bit of overlap. ( The
README file from the CD is included at the foot of this article)

Its probably fair to say that the FTP situation is in a bit of a state of flux,
but this will get cleaned up soon - sorry for any inconvenience.

(To those who know about all this already, apologies for wasting bandwidth...#:-)

         =-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=

To grab any of the following modules, change to the relevant directory,
and `get' the compressed tar file that you find there. This will contain
all the information needed to execute the module.

Where noted below, source code is included. The format for entries is:

		is sampled in stereo mode with a 16-bit data range.
	~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
	Module		: AudioOut [Module]
	~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
	Module		: Axis [Module]
	Format		: Source

	Description :
		"Axis" will annotate a geometric, rendered image that
		was constructed from an Explorer 3D Uniform Lattice.
		The user has control over the axes that are displayed,
		as well as textual information such as axis labels, tic
		labels and an image title. This module is meant to be
		used in conjunction with the "Render" module, since all
		of its output is in the geometric data set.

Cartog
	Author(s) : Jim Phillips (Minnesota Supercomputer Institute)

	Description:
		This directory holds a number of Explorer modules
		written by Jim Phillips which are useful in visualizing
		any data that has to do with the earth.

		WorldMap: Reads the CIA map database and sends it
		along as a pyramid lattice. We have also added a map
		for plate boundaries. (Useful for Geology and
		Geophysics.)

		Projector: Takes lattices and pyramids and warps them
		onto a number of map projections including mercator,
		Globe and many others.

		Bendbox: Creates a bounding box of a size specified by
		the user. Also displays tickmarks and ticklines.

		Elevation: Reads an elevation file for the Earth and
		sends it along to be displaced and rendered.

		SimpleSphere: Draws a sphere at a specified size.
		Used so that the backside of a map isn't seen when
		displayed on a sphere.

		All of the modules come with example maps which
		will also be distributed.

CentreRot
	Author(s) : Dana Haukoos (SDSC)
	~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
	Module		: CentreRot [Module]
	Format		: SGI Binary
	Description :
		CenterRot creates a transformation matrix that is
		useful  as an  input  to  the  optional  Transform
		lattice input of the Render  module.   It  provides
		capabilities   similar   to TransfomGen  except all
		inputs can be controled numerically.  It was created to
		overcome the problem of not being able  to save the
		transformation state of the Render module.
		The rotation follows the roll (X), pitch (Y),  and
		yaw  (Z) convention. By default, the center of rotation
		is the origin or lower left of the  lattice.  The
		CtrX,  CtrY,  and  CtrZ inputs  allow  the  user  to
		choose another point to rotate about (for example, the
		center of the lattice).
		vector lattice  and  outputs  it  as a scalar lattice.
		If desired, ChannelAnimate will walk sequentially down
		each  channel  in the  input  lattice  and  output
		each  as a separate scalar lattice in an animation
WorkBench
	Author(s) : Gordon Cameron (EPCC)
	~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
	Module		: WorkBench [Module]
	Format		: Source

	Description :
		This module is designed to supply a single number which
		can be fed into other modules, such as OrthoSlice as
		the slice number. It can usefully used to allow fine
		control over numeric parameters - for example, a number
		can be single stepped by an EXACT set step in either
		direction. This is useful for stepping through values
		in an orderly fashion, as the slider widget at present
		doesn't allow single precise-stepping. Simply wire the
		Current Value outout parameter into any other parameter
		that you want to control.
