Multidisciplinary theses - help!

Can anyone send me (please!)
- references to publications
- text of your own institution's guidelines
regarding the problems of assessing multidisciplinary theses?

I have seen passing references to the problem, but nothing
substantial. Multidisciplinary research seems to be `desirable'
but poorly rewarded (in terms of examiner assessment).

What guidelines do other places give examiners? - students?

Any help will be appreciated!

Jennifer

Dear Jennifer,

You are right, everyone says multidisciplinary work is important, but
wait until you want it assessed!

Monash Environmental Science tried hard, but eventually got taken over by
Geography (now called Geography and Environmental Science).

They may have some information/guidelines to share with you.

Too true. I am having a hell of a time trying to find sympathetic
assessors for my PhD which is multi-disciplinary. And getting your
work supervised is another issue, esp at that level.

When you get your results, please post again and let us know.
