Hi, could anyone provide information about the barcodes used with Pioneer videodisc players? We wish to incorporate a function for printing these in our software and have had no luck in getting technical specifications for them from Pioneer directly. Specifically, I need enough information about the barcodes to write a program to print them. The person I spoke with at Pioneer was actually quite rude about it; you'd think they would be very interested in having people use their hardware to its fullest extent. Thanks! It seems that Pioneer only added the barcode reader and the Bar N Coder software as an afterthought, since the software is difficult to use and doesn't allow the flexibility that's necessary for educational products. Thus, we've developed a Hypercard-based word processor that allows you to write your documents like you usually would, using whatever formats you like to use, AND lets you create and insert barcode commands directly into your document. You can print these documents on any dot matrix, ink jet, or laser printer. All Pioneer barcode commands are supported. If you've got a copy of Technology and Teacher Education Annual 1992, there's a good article about this product. If you're interested in obtaining a pre-release copy of this software, currently titled RABID, please contact Robert Miller at RMiller@uh.edu or me at EKeeler@uh.edu.
