My boss walked in and said find out how much and what we
have to do to bring up JES3 for product testing. I have
never touched JES3. So, I have a couple of questions that
would be very helpful if someone has answers.

1. Will JES3 run on a P/390? This will be OS/390 1.3.

2. Can we set up a system where we can switch back and
forth between JES2 (normal operation) and JES3 for
   testing?

3. For #2, can we specify the switch over at IPL, or do
we need a second residence volume.

If you can point me to documentation with the answers it
would be appreciated. I am finding the CD docs slow going
to find the answers.

TIA

I have never tried it but it ought to work.

I have built systems where the operator specified SYSP=J2 or SYSP=J3 to
specify JES2 or JES3. I can't remember exactly the differences. I would
look in the IPO1.* datasets. It used to be documented there.

You can do it with a single res pack.

I'm sure someone else can provide a few more details.
