Oh, come on. The Windows operating system was inexorably replacing MS-DOS; if Microsoft wanted to be in the applications development market they had to have a Windows development system. They chose the path of offering the Visual Anything product family instead of the path requiring the developer to understand re-entrancy. A reasonable choice, even if you don't agree with it. (Don't forget: WIndows has been around for twenty years now). And that "bottom line" thing? Had MS *not* paid attention to the bottom line, that would have been total irresponsibility to the shareholders - of which there are at least several hundred thousand. You sound like guys who would have picketed the fledgling Ford Motor Company because you were "really good" at handling buggy whips. MCM
