BASIC stands for "Beginners All-purpose ? Interpretive Code" and that scares the living hell out of me. I have been a FORTRAN programmer for about 25 years, and have had Visual C++ (with Fortran Power Station) for 2 weeks. C++ is a real language. I would go that route (well, I am going that route). The Wizard does most of the coding for you. Debug tools are great. Depends on what you want to do: "speed costs, son, how fast do you wanna go?"
